wiring a 2000W inverter to a Ram ProMaster

I’m installing a 2000W pure sine wave inverter in my ProMaster to charge my EcoFlow Delta at 120V while I'm driving
is it okay to wire the inverter directly to the vehicle battery if I only run it while the engine is on?
any tips or advice I should know about before I start running cables? Thanks!

Totally doable, but be careful. Even “only while driving” can turn into a dead battery fast if something gets left on. Heavy gauge wire, solid grounds, and a fuse right at the battery are non-negotiable. I’d also keep the run as short as possible to avoid voltage drop.

If the goal is just charging an EcoFlow Delta while driving the Ram ProMaster, you might want to look at a DC to DC approach instead of going 12V to 120V back to DC again. The inverter route works, but it is inefficient and it is a lot of current to move around under the hood.

Engine on does not automatically mean safe on the ProMaster battery. At 2000W you can exceed what the alternator and wiring can comfortably support, especially in cold January weather when batteries sag more. What year is your Ram ProMaster and do you know your alternator output rating.
