Lead acid upkeep vs lithium ion, what made you switch?

Question for anyone running lead acid for home backup. How do you keep it manageable long term without feeling like you’re constantly maintaining it? I’ve got a basic setup and it’s fine during outages, but the upkeep adds friction. One recent example: after a few weeks of normal use plus a couple short outages, I checked things and realized I’d been putting off maintenance because it’s just a hassle. Then when I finally got around to it, I found early signs of corrosion and it reminded me why I can’t ignore it. If you’ve found a routine that makes lead acid easier, what is it? And if you switched to lithium ion, was the day to day difference as big as people say?

Lead acid is doable but only if you make it a routine. I’ve seen people succeed by doing a quick monthly check, terminals clean and tight, corrosion spray, and keeping a simple log. If you’re already noticing corrosion, that “friction” is basically the lead acid tax.

Lead acid works, but it demands a routine or it punishes you. A lot of folks keep it manageable by treating maintenance like a scheduled chore, not a “when I remember” task, then staying ahead of corrosion and water checks. If you’re cycling it often, that friction is usually what pushes people to lithium, the day to day mental load drops a lot.

That’s the exact reason I’d be tempted to switch. Lead acid feels like it demands attention, and if you miss a couple checks, it punishes you. Lithium ion seems like the day to day win is less babysitting and more predictable performance, especially when outages happen back to back.
