How long do your batteries really last powering small appliances?

I’ve been testing out my Bluetti and Jackery setups during some short cabin stays lately, and I noticed the runtime takes a big hit once I plug in anything with a heating element. A small ceramic heater barely made it through a couple of hours before the charge started dipping fast. The fridge, on the other hand, does fine for almost a full day, especially if I keep it closed most of the time. I’m curious what everyone else is getting out of their portables when running similar stuff. Are you using pure sine inverters or direct DC for longer life? I feel like the cold drains capacity faster too, even when I keep the units inside. Anyone found the perfect balance between power draw and efficiency for small off-grid setups?

My Bluetti can baby a fridge, router, and lights for hours, but the moment I plug in a kettle or heater it’s game over. I think we all underestimate how brutal those resistive loads are. Someone told me to pre-heat the cabin with propane or wood instead and let the battery handle the low-draw stuff. Honestly that’s been the best combo so far.

Cold definitely cuts into usable capacity, even when you’re keeping the batteries indoors. A lot of people switch anything possible over to DC just to squeeze out an extra hour or two, especially for lights and phone charging. The inverter overhead adds up fast. Were you using the built-in inverter on your units, or plugging in through an external one?

heaters are battery killers. Anything that glows or heats will chew through a Bluetti or Jackery way faster than you expect. My fridge barely sips power, but the moment I plug in a heater, the runtime drops like a rock. DC stuff always lasts longer for me, and keeping the battery warm helps a bit in winter. Haven’t found a magic combo yet, just learning what appliances deserve respect.
