What made you start using a home battery setup?

What made you start using a home battery setup? Was it for energy independence, saving costs, or just the tech side of it? did you experience a bad power outage in your area? or do you have an EV that you need maintained?

Mine was just about saving on the bill. Rates shot up, and I figured a battery would help. Still not sure if it’s actually saving me much, but it feels good seeing the meter barely move.

A buddy of mine got one first and wouldn’t stop talking about it. I finally caved after a few blackouts this summer. Still figuring out what all the settings do though.

I’ll admit the tech side pulled me in first. I like being able to see where the energy goes and tweak things. But after one long outage last year, the battery basically paid for itself in peace of mind. Now it’s just part of our routine.
