Trying to upgrade

We've been off-grid in Southwest Ontario since 2010 with a 24V system thats mostly held up, but our inverter and batteries are due for an upgrade. I'm planning to move to 48V with an EG4 6000XP inverter, three EG4-LL-S batteries, and a Honda 7000i ES generator, keeping the PV and wind setup. Winters here are tough, so reliable generator backup is a must. Has anyone run the Honda 7000i directly with the EG4 6000? Curious if it plays nice before I do my move.

That sounds like a solid plan! The Honda 7000i should work well with the EG4 6000XP. I've come across a few setups using the EU7000iS (which has similar specs) and they've had no problems with the GEN port. The clean inverter power and low THD make it a great fit for sensitive inverters like the 6000XP.

Just one thing to keep in mind, it might be a good idea to double-check your charge rate settings to make sure they align with the generator's output. Are you thinking of using it solely for charging, or will it also serve as a backup load?

For charging and back up as well, so its a little bit of both. Thank you for replying, winter is around the corner so we really have to have our answers. Can you share some tips on how to maintain it to prevent issues and repairs?? They dont come cheap.

For sure, keeping it well maintained is key, especially with winter coming. Run the generator every month or so even if you don't need it, just to keep the fuel fresh and the engine lubricated. Also, when connecting it to your EG4, check the wiring and generator input settings each season so you don't get surprises when you need it most

Most people dig this setup. Hondas are reliable, and EG4s vibe well with quality generators.
