Solar charge rate stuck low even in good sun, what settings or parts do i need ?

Has anyone dealt with solar charging that just will not climb above a certain watt number, even when the weather looks fine? I’m still learning and it’s hard to tell if it’s normal behavior or if I’m leaving performance on the table.

A specific moment for me was last week when I cleaned the panels and expected a big jump, then the charge rate barely changed. That’s what made me start worrying about configuration. Do you usually start with checking string config and connections, then look for partial shading, then confirm MPPT and controller limits, then verify battery temperature and charge settings that might be capping it?

Before chasing hardware, make sure you’re not hitting a cap. Common ones are MPPT max output current, charge profile limits, and battery temperature based charge reduction. Also check if you’re already in absorption or float, because once the battery is close, it will look like the sun is weak even when it’s not.

Start with controller limits and battery state first, then check wiring and voltage drop then shading and orientation and only after that look at string config or MPPT settings.
