Do hybrid inverters handle power switching smoothly in cloudy weather?

I’ve been noticing that on cloudy days in New Jersey the hybrid inverter seems to flip between grid and battery a bit more than I expected like a LOT. It’s not causing major issues (its scary though) but sometimes I can hear the relay clicking or see quick dips on my monitoring app. Anyone running hybrid setups like does yours handle the transition smoothly when solar production fluctuates? I’m wondering if this is just normal behavior in partly cloudy weather or if I should be tweaking settings somewhere. Would love to hear if others are seeing the same thing like especially those running newer inverters with built-in load management.

Nothing wrong with the gear it’s really the weather. Partly cloudy days are murder on hybrid logic. The constant switching’s annoying but not harmful. If you’re seeing dips on the monitor app but not lights flickering, you’re fine. Just means it’s reacting faster than it needs to.

That relay sound can be nerve-wracking, haha. It’s basically your inverter reacting to the solar drop-offs, so it’s not dangerous but it can wear things faster if it’s happening constantly. Some folks fix that by tweaking the grid priority or setting a wider buffer before switching. Might be worth checking your manual to see if it has a “grid stabilization” setting.
