best DIY LiFePO4 Battery for Victron/Fronius?

I’m planning a DIY 13.5kWh solar storage bank in Belgium using 16 x 280Ah LiFePO4 cells. with our new metering rules, I need an affordable way to store daytime energy for night use

I'm looking at the Seplos CANBUS/RS485 200A BMS because of its communication features and scalability.
My goal is a Victron based microgrid that integrates with my existing 5.7kWp solar array and Fronius Primo inverter. I need a BMS that talks natively to Victron or Fronius via CANBUS to manage my 15kWh daily consumption and 5000W peak loads.

has anyone tested the Seplos BMS in a similar 48V setup? I’m specifically looking for advice on its reliability with Victron Cerbo GX and how easily it scales when I add a second 13.5kWh pack later

I haven’t run Seplos personally, but I’d start by confirming if that exact Seplos model is actually supported by Victron GX as a “managed battery” over CAN, or if it ends up being more of a monitoring-only integration. If it’s not on the supported list, it can still work, but it gets stressful fast. What exact BMS model name and firmware are you looking at?

DIY 13.5kWh packs are very doable, but treat reliability as more than comms. Use proper fusing per pack, a main DC disconnect, busbars sized for the worst case, and a precharge plan if your inverter charger needs it. For scaling to a second 13.5kWh pack, it is usually safer to keep packs electrically symmetric, same cell model, similar age, and same BMS settings, and then parallel at the busbar level. If you want closed loop comms, make sure the parallel pack behavior is supported, not just possible.

I have seen people get Seplos working, but “working today” and “boring reliable for years” are different. If you can, ask anyone answering to share how long it has been running with Cerbo GX and whether it survives updates without breaking comms.
